The Autumn Carer Event Day took place on the 23rd of October. It consisted of a morning session where parents attended talks and presentations including the roles of the team at Cawston Park. There was then an opportunity for families to have lunch with their loved ones, and to take part in lots of activities in the afternoon. These activities included:
- A drama production
- An art exhibition
- Drama workshops
- Gym activities
- A photo booth
There was also an informative healthy eating stand by our Dietitian and Cookery Tutor. The stand included foods and drinks that patients had made and the theme was to promote healthy eating. A patient also gave his views about staying at Cawston Park, which was very interesting.
In order to listen to the views of parents and carers, which are vitally important to the team at Cawston Park, there was a question and answer session involving the whole Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Future Carer Events
Feedback from families indicated that it was a successful event and one that they would like to see continued in the future. The views and opinions of parents and carers are very important to the team at Cawston Park. However, this is just the start and it is hoped that future events will continue to invest in families’ views which will shape our practice.
Therefore we are planning future Carer Event Days, which will be linked to the seasons; winter, spring, summer and autumn. There have also been requests from families to receive training in patient-related matters, possibly through face-to-face sessions or a podcast style of delivery.
We would like to thank all those that contributed to making this event a success and to everyone who attended. We would like to thank PhotoMeBooth for providing a photo booth for our October event!
